figment of our imagination…

April 13th, 2009 by harriscute

i got the idea to post another blog from my nephew and from the spider i saw at the toilet and also bob ong…

caution the following text might be of english tagalog language, proceed with understanding…

when we were kids we all longed for super heroes, for powers that we could have, to be heroes and destroy the bad and retain the good, but if all the good are gone, how will there be any spice in our lives…right, imagine a world without bad, there will be no corruption, no gma, no zte, no jocjoc, no guns, no alabang boys, no drugs, no killings and where have they all gone? well as i assess it, they are all downstair having a party, and “we” the better beings are on the 7th floor… how would that be, wouldnt it be boring, would there be action, drama and funny moments? are all just clouds of ecstasy swirling around us…ill go through with this on my next blog, if ever i got that creative juice working again, or if there hasnt any lag or busy busy, feeling busy situations.

the super hero, yes, when we kids dont we all hope that these are all for real, the generation of today, deals more manga, thanks to our japanese mentors who brings them to life, but i still want to go back to the era of superman, green lantern, spiderman, the fantastic 4, the magnificent great hall of justice.

if i were bitten by a spider would i gain the superpower ability of spiderman, will i be able to climb walls, ceilings, and jump to fast without any hindrances, nah ah, if you were bitten by a spider, just pray that the spider isnt so deadly like the black widow or their venom will kill you slowly.

okay okay, i got it, what if i were to swim beneath the water and be like aquaman, have special gills, would i be the kings of the water, will i discover atlantis, nah probably not, youd just be drowned to death, and the atlantis, if there were really so, historians could have made a tangible proof that it does exist, and not fall on the fiction section of your friendly neighborhood bookstore.

there aint no kryptonite, but what about meteor, ive heard there are meteor shower, when i eat them will i be invincible as superman or be the male counterpart of darna? think again the most likely thing youd get is death if the meteor is big enough to kill you.

so how about green lantern huh, id purchase a miraculous rings from quiapo and made use of that, i believe a chant is necessary to activate the power of the article, would the rings give me a different aura, hmmm if you were to beleive in those youd probably be spending a fortune and yet you still wont win the jackpot of lotto.

so what about the heroes, the xmen, and the newer breed of fiction? hmmm lets just say that we all want to have a superhuman power that will enable us to be different, to be above others, to be special.

Me, Myself and I : a thousand watts smile

“Ouch, that really hurts” as I told myself upon waking in the middle of the night, and now I feel what my patients feel when they complain about how painful their teeth could be and would want to pull them out that very moment. That particular tooth was restored several years back, I think I was in elementary then, the dentist used an amalgam filling material to plugged up the cavity.

Now, “do I floss my teeth?” sure do, “how often would that be?” Hmmm, twice or thrice a week, and whenever a food traps in between my teeth, silly me, as I teach my patients to floss their teeth at least once to twice a day, flossing isn’t synonymous to sawing, you don’t saw over your gums, instead you let the dental floss pass towards the contour of the tooth, sweeping away any food debris, should it bleed, your doing it improperly, remember that the essence of flossing is to protect the gums and not harm them. “How?” simply get a floss about a foot long, hold them tight as you let the floss enter in between your teeth, from here sawing action is allowable, but after the floss reaches beneath the contact area, just positioned your floss on the surface of the tooth, and gently move it along the outline of your tooth, then the tooth adjacent to it, by this time food debris would already be dislodged, so slowly pull out the dental floss and proceed to the next tooth. Yes, that simple.

What’s the proper way of brushing then? “This is so elementary, you get your toothbrush, slather toothpaste on it, then you brush your teeth and rinse it off after.” That’s it? “yes, that’s basically it”

Well here is a more proper, simple and hassle free of doing it correctly, first use a Soft Toothbrush, put a pea sized toothpaste on it and start brushing, make your front teeth contact and with your brush, do an up and down stroke, much more like a sweeping action to cleanse your front teeth, then proceed with the back teeth, with a circular motion, and not, I repeat, not on a forward backward movement, be gentle and don’t press the toothbrush against your teeth hardly, you need not rush, then brush all the surface of your teeth, including the back side of your front teeth.

“Are we done yet?” I guess not, afterwards clean your tongue with a good swipe of your toothbrush, don’t forget to gargle and rinse off your toothbrush.

Tooth brushing is an art, “how in the world would it be an ART?” simple, how can you flash a thousand watts smile with a dirty teeth? The smile of Mona Lisa puzzled brilliant minds and geniuses all over the world, “but the portrait never showed Mona’s teeth?” precisely my point, what more if she does… You see if Mr. L, painted her teeth, philosopher might even argue to if her teeth were real of fakes? If real, had she went through orthodontic treatment? “braces weren’t a fad then.” It isn’t but vanity is…

“so what makes vanity and teeth parallel?” people often say that the eyes are the mirror of the soul, the hair is the crowning glory, but what about the teeth? the smile? “with good set of teeth you end up in a TV commercial.” So what happens to the lead actor after flashing those pearly whites? Attracts, charms and enchant others right. “A tagline would be more appropriate.” Smile is the reflection of what’s pristine within.

Post script : I undergone a root canal treatment to take away that throbbing pain, have my impacted third molar removed, and I now floss my teeth at least once a day.

love is…

February 13th, 2007 by harriscute

love best define not with words but with feeling, with the expression and action.

each of us has its own definition, as each of us has a different feeling and experience with love.

let me share my personal definition of what love is, and this holds true not only for romantic love but also, parental, sibling love and friendly love.

“love is being happy seeing the person we love who loves us happy”

that simple=)

im a dentist, thats my field of expertise, there are some known dentist, doctor, and personalities in every field. i am not a being mean, bitch, boastful, pushy say the synonym i am not, but its just that i dont want to belittle myself,, idont want to look small especially when talking with a starnger on a gathering or a party.

usually they will name drop famous person on our field, say do you know dr. juan dela cruz? (yeah i know him, or he may be familiar, or i had heard of him) however my one liner would always be, does mr juan delacruz know me?if not then i dont know him=), yet it a various tone, like joking tone, serious tone, and that would depend whom i am talking with.

some people, well most people will take it diffferently, but i stand by what i said with great pride=)

havent we always desire for something we dont have?
havent we hoped for something we cant hold?
havent we longed with that somebody that dances around our mind?
hevent we thought that fantasy should be real?
havent we dream of something so unimaginanably big?

but how come when we got hold of the satisfaction point, we tend to want something more, its like satisfaction is never ending? i read an anecdote about a woman who yearns for that undying love, then after praying whole heartedly, the boss up there provided her with a tall building in which she has the freewill to choose any guy within the structure, she proceeded and take a quick glance at the ground floor, at first she was terribly pleased with the array of men, then stepped on the elevator and she went on to the next level, in which she saw that men are better here, and move on to the next, she realize guys are getting better as she enters a higher level, with so much enthusiam she hit in the top floor instantly, but when the elevator opens she saw nobody…

as the level goes higher the man within the floor became better, flaws are corrected, however hitting the top floor would mean perfection, and nobody is perfect, only god is…

rather than pursuing something to satisfy ourselves, we should also think if we are being selfish, we should be contented and work on with what we have.

am not being preachy as im saying this also to myself, be happy and count our blessing, in one way or another we will extremely better rather than dwell and hold on to the miseries of our lives.

read me…my dearly departed

October 31st, 2006 by harriscute

It dawn to me that going to the cementery yearly has been a ritual, reunion rather than paying respect to our dearly departed. When i was young, we were so excited during november 1, going to the cementery, meeting up with friends collecting candle drips are the most fun above all, during my elementary days, our teacher would tell us to collect and bring candle drips to be made as wax, as we grew older, it were a thing of a past…basically going to cementery becomes a routine.

Where is the real essence of november 1, it is lost, were it burnt with the candles that we light, are they wilted like the flowers we offer, how about the incense chinese use and the paper money we burn, come to think of it are we doing the ozone and our health a benefit…or are we just abiding the “traditions”, i respect the traditional ways our ancestors created, however for the sake of reality and divinity of the soul of our dearly departed arent sincere prayer the better and best way to pay respect.

Just a thought, we offer our dead relatives, friends flowers, why dont we do them while they are still alive… we light them candles, why not prepare a candle light dinner, would it be more appropriate. Sometimes we display array of flowers within the tomb, but will the dead appreciate that, maybe they will as they see us from above, but did we offer those flower out of sincerity or we just bought or made an arrangement for other people to see…

In my opinion, offer your fowers while the offeree are still alive=) so you could see their smile, their joy while living, prayer after they died for me would be sufficient, however only sincere prayer are accepted…

99 SECRETS GIRLS OUGHT TO KNOW ABOUT GUYS

1. Guys don’t actually look after good-looking
girls. They prefer neat and presentable girls.

2. Guys hate flirts.

3. A guy can like you for a minute, and then
forget you afterwards.

4. When a guy says he doesn’t understand you, it
simply means you’re not thinking the way he is.

5. “Are you doing something?” or “Have you eaten
already?” are the first usual questions a guy
asks on the phone just to get out from
stammering.

6. Guys may be flirting around all day but before
they go to sleep, they always think about the
girl they truly care about.

7. When a guy really likes, he’ll disregard all
your bad characteristics.

8. Guys go crazy over a girl’s smile.

9. Guys will do anything just to get the girl’s
attention.

10. Guys hate it when you talk about your ex-
boyfriend.

11. When guys want to meet your parents…let
them.

12. Guys want to tell you many things but they
can’t. And they sure have one habit to gain
courage and spirit to tell you many things and it
is…drinking!

13. Guys cry!!!

14. Don’t provoke the guy to heat up…believe
me…he will.

15. Guys can never dream and hope too much.

16. Guys usually try hard to get the girl who has
dumped them, and this makes it harder for them to
accept their defeat.

17. When you touch a guy’s heart, there’s no
turning back.

18. Giving a guy a hanging message like “You know
what…uh…never mind!” would him jump to a
conclusion that is far from what you are
thinking.

19. Guys go crazy when girls touch their hands.

20. Guys are good flatterers when courting but
they usually stammer when they talk to a girl
they really like.

21. When a guy makes a prolonged “um”…or makes
any excuses when you’re asking him to do you a
favor, he’s actually saying that he doesn’t like
you and he can’t lay down the card for you.

22. When a girl says “no”, a guy hears it as “try
again tomorrow.”

23. You have to tell a guy what you really want
before he gets the message clearly.

24. Guys hate gays!

25. Guys love their moms.

26. A guy would sacrifice his money for lunch
just to get you a couple of roses.

27. A guy often thinks about the girl who likes
him. But this doesn’t mean that the guy likes
her.

28. You can never understand him unless you
listen to him.

29. If a guy tells you he loves you once in a
lifetime…he does.

30. Beware. Guys can make gossips scatter through
half of the face of the earth faster than girls
can.

31. Like Eve…girls are guy’s weaknesses.

32. Guys are very open about themselves.

33. It’s good to test a guy first before you
believe him. But don’t let him wait that long.

34. No guy is bad when he is courting.

35. Guys hate it when their clothes get
dirty…even a small dot.

36. Guys really admire girls that they like even
if they’re not that much pretty.

37. Your best friend, whom your boyfriend seeks
help from about his problems with you may end up
being admired by your boyfriend.

38. If a guy tells you about his problems, he
just needs someone to listen to him. You don’t
need to give advice.

39. A usual act that proves that the guy likes
you is when he teases you.

40. A guy finds ways to keep you off from linking
with someone else.

41. Guys love girls with brains more than girls
in miniskirts.

42. Guys try to find the stuffed toy a girl wants
but would unluckily get the wrong one.

43. Guys virtually brag about anything.

44. Guys cannot keep secrets that girls tell
them.

45. Guys think too much.

46. Guys’ fantasies are unlimited.

47. Girls’ height doesn’t really matter to a guy
but…her weight does!

48. Guys tend to get serious with their
relationship and become too possessive…so watch
out girls!!!

49. When a girl makes the boy suffer during
courtship, it would be hard for him to let go of
that girl.

50. It’s not easy for a guy to let go of his
girlfriend after they broke up esp. when they’ve
been together for 3 years or more.

51. You have to tell a guy what you really want
before getting involved with that guy.

52. A guy has to experience rejection, because if
he’s too-good-never-been-busted, never been in-
love and hurt, he won’t be matured and grow up.

53. When an unlikable circumstance comes, guys
blame themselves a lot more than girls do. They
could even hurt themselves physically.

54. Guys have strong passion to change but have
weak will power.

55. Guys are tigers in their peer groups but
become tamed pussycats with their girlfriends.

56. When a guy pretends to be calm, check if he’s
sweating. You’ll probably see that he is nervous.

57. When a guy says he is going crazy about the
girl…he really is.

58. When a guy asks you to leave him alone, he’s
just actually saying “Please come and listen to
me”

59. Guys don’t really have final decisions.

60. When a guy loves you, bring out the best in
him.

61. If a guy started to talk seriously, listen to
him.

62. If a guy has been kept shut or silent, say
something.

63. Guys believe that there’s no such thing as
love at first sight, but court the girls anyway
and then realize at the end that he is wrong.

64. Guys like femininity not feebleness.

65. Guys don’t like girls who punch harder than
they do.

66. A guy may instantly know if the girl likes
him but can never be sure unless the girl tells
him.

67. A guy would waste his time over video games
and basketball, the way a girl would do over her
romance novels and make-ups.

68. Guys love girls who can cook or bake.

69. Guys like girls who are like their moms…no
kidding!

70. A guy has more problems than you can see with
your naked eyes.

71. A guy’s friend knows everything about him.
Use this to your advantage.

72. Don’t be a snob. Guys may easily give up on
the first sign of rejection.

73. Don’t be biased. Try loving a guy without
prejudice and you’ll be surprised.

74. Girls who bathe in their eau de perfumes do
more repelling than attracting guys.

75. Guys are more talkative than girls are
especially when the topic is about girls.

76. Guys don’t comprehend the statement “Get
lost” too well.

77. Guys really think that girls are strange and
have unpredictable decisions but still love them
more.

78. When a guy gives a crooked or pretentious
grin at your jokes, he finds them offending and
he jus tried to be polite.

79. Guys don’t care about on how shiny their
shoes unlike girls.

80. Guys tend to generalize about girls but once
they get to know them, they’ll realize they’re
wrong.

81. Any guy can handle his problems all by his
own. He’s just too stubborn to deal with it.

82. Guys find it so objectionable when a girl
swears.

83. Guys’ weakest point is at the knee.

84. When a problem arises, a guy usually keeps
himself cool but is already thinking of a way
out.

85. When a guy is conscious of his looks, it
shows he is not good at fixing things.

86. When a guy looks at you, either he’s amazed
on you or he’s criticizing you.

87. When you catch him cheating on you and he
asks for a second chance, give it to him. But
when you catch him again an he asks for another
chance, ignore him.

88. If a guy lets you go, he really loves you.

89. If you have a boyfriend, and your boy best
friend always glances at you and it obviously
shows that he is jealous whenever you’re with
your boyfriend, all I can say is your boy best
friend loves you more than your boyfriend does.

90. Guys learn from experience not from the
romance books that girls read and take as their
basis of experience.

91. You can tell if a guy is really hurt or in
pain…when he cries in front of you!

92. If a guy suddenly asks you for a date, ask
him first why.

93. When a guy says he can’t sleep if he doesn’t
hear your voice even just for one night, hang up.
He also tells that to another girl. He only
flatters you and sometimes makes fun of you.

94. You can truly say that a guy has good
intention if you see him praying sometimes.

95. Guys seek for advice not from a guy but from
a girl.

96. Girls are allowed to touch boys’ things…not
their hair!

97. If someone says you’re beautiful, that guy
likes you.

98. Guys hate girls who overreact.

99. Guys love you more than you love them if they
are serious in your relationships.

REMINDER: Test a guy first if he’s really the
one. Some are just pretending to be the one.

Like air that we cant see
we believe it does exist
as we feel its breeze passing upon us
with the advent of new technologies
microwave, ultra viloet rays
these are all unseen yet we know its real
as they cause various reactions
love transends beyond barrier
it cant be seen yet it could be felt
you need not use your mind but heart…

^^
the priest homily regarding God’s love inspire me to put these into text. We are in the age of new technology, whatever we could touch, see and hear innovates, a common sim card stores hundreds of contacts, TV becomes slimmer and smaller. Looking back, we humans, creator of these gadgets are left behind, we tend to forget that our mind, heart and soul needs to innovate as well.

7 deadly sin…

June 26th, 2006 by harriscute

1. pride
2. envy
3. wrath
4. sloth
5. avarice
6. glutony
7. lust

so who among us who are free of dirty mind and of pure soul that could forego with these 7 dealy sins…

pride. once we feel were on top, once weve achieve something that is at peak of our career, once we had attain something that commoners dont, dont we show off what weve achieved?;

envy.. when our friend, brother, sister, cousins have accomplish dont we feel belittle, dont we sense that we are so inadequate, that we are not given an equal oportunity from god, and these people are enjoying much that i have nothing, lost, in limbo, downsized?;

wrath… sometimes when someone made a fool of us, we harbor these anger, although these are just seeds but planted, these tiny seeds could grow to a big wrath, those seeds will grow as anger isnt relieved?;

sloth…. manyana habit, juan tamad syndrome, thse are trait we should definitely avoid, seize the day, work on a day as it is it were your last day, being lazy wout lead us into somewhere good, right?;

avarice…. we all dream od weath, of money of millions of millions of money, one can never say he didnt want to have such money, once can never said that they never dreamt of having huge amount, but greed isnt that good, yet when we have this much and we always look at how much more could we get isnt it?;

gluttony…… greed of eating to much is good, it isnt healthy at all, yes ive mention to seize the day, but i never said kill your life, a small helping of roasted pig is enough to satisfy our palate, a whole pig would clog our arteries and be our life’s time bomb, scared?;

lust……. such good body, such adorable physique, who among us would crave and drool as we feast our eyes, that we imagine them even only in our dreams or acts only our wildess imagination could create…

as for me, i admit doing some sins, but i also refrain from doing some…

there is always the word compromise or meeting halfway, however to some it tends to be a difficult task to undertake. A person says he is a pleaser, he would want to please as many as he could, however in doing so, he only ends up pleasing himself and not the other ways around. A pleasee on the other hand, sometimes expects so much that a pleaser would have a hard time coping up to the expectation, it really is diffiult being in either position or situation.

pleaser or pleasee… you tell me=)
