read me…my dearly departed

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

It dawn to me that going to the cementery yearly has been a ritual, reunion rather than paying respect to our dearly departed. When i was young, we were so excited during november 1, going to the cementery, meeting up with friends collecting candle drips are the most fun above all, during my elementary days, our teacher would tell us to collect and bring candle drips to be made as wax, as we grew older, it were a thing of a past…basically going to cementery becomes a routine.

Where is the real essence of november 1, it is lost, were it burnt with the candles that we light, are they wilted like the flowers we offer, how about the incense chinese use and the paper money we burn, come to think of it are we doing the ozone and our health a benefit…or are we just abiding the “traditions”, i respect the traditional ways our ancestors created, however for the sake of reality and divinity of the soul of our dearly departed arent sincere prayer the better and best way to pay respect.

Just a thought, we offer our dead relatives, friends flowers, why dont we do them while they are still alive… we light them candles, why not prepare a candle light dinner, would it be more appropriate. Sometimes we display array of flowers within the tomb, but will the dead appreciate that, maybe they will as they see us from above, but did we offer those flower out of sincerity or we just bought or made an arrangement for other people to see…

In my opinion, offer your fowers while the offeree are still alive=) so you could see their smile, their joy while living, prayer after they died for me would be sufficient, however only sincere prayer are accepted…
